As a working class mother and nonpartisan candidate, I believe local government should prioritize the people who build and maintain our communities, listen, and provide the best services possible.
I want to keep Walla Walla County affordable while creating more opportunities for local businesses, entrepreneurs, and workers to succeed. That includes revitalizing commercial spaces, supporting small businesses, family farms, and creating community spaces where residents can connect with resources and each other. We must also protect our natural resources and farmlands to ensure long term stability for our local economy.
County government needs to prioritize the essential services we rely on every day–our first responders, EMS, road crews, and other employees play vital roles in keeping our communities safe and healthy. As Commissioner, I will make sure we are appropriately allocating funds, maintaining infrastructure, and that the county is operating effectively and responsibly.
We need proactive solutions that strengthen county services and improve efficiency–while avoiding unnecessary tax increases. I will be a tireless advocate for our fair share of state funding and make sure our projects stay a priority. I am running to bring a pragmatic, worker focused voice and a fresh perspective to our county government.
Our County only has 1 County funded mental healthcare and drug rehabilitation center. But we have a rising mental heath and drug crisis happening in our communities. We need to stop putting bandaids on bullet holes, by spending large portions of our county budget on policing, and focus on handling the root cause of the issues that require more policing. Our residents health and mental well being should be a top priority.
